प्रजापतीनां षण्णां तु चतुर्थो यः प्रजापतिः ।
मानसो ब्रह्मणः पुत्रः पुलस्त्य इति विश्रुतः ।

prajāpatīnāṃ ṣaṇṇāṃ tu caturtho yaḥ prajāpatiḥ |
mānaso brahmaṇaḥ putraḥ pulastya iti viśrutaḥ ॥5-21-5॥
Translation
"Among the six Prajapatis, the fourth Prajapati is the mind-born son of Brahma, known by the name Pulastya."

"(ब्रह्मा के) छः प्रजापतियों में से जो चौथे प्रजापति हैं, वे ब्रह्मा के मानस पुत्र हैं और 'पुलस्त्य' नाम से विख्यात हैं।"
English Commentary
Ekajata begins a genealogical argument to persuade Sita. By tracing Ravana's lineage back to the Creator, Brahma, she attempts to establish his divine and aristocratic credentials. Mentioning Pulastya, the 'mind-born' (manasa) son of Brahma and one of the Prajapatis (progenitors of mankind), serves to elevate Ravana's status beyond that of a mere demon leader. The strategy here is intellectual seduction: trying to convince Sita that Ravana is worthy of her based on his illustrious ancestry, hoping that high birth will compensate for his lack of virtue.

एकजटा अब रावण की वंशावली (Genealogy) का वर्णन प्रारम्भ करती है ताकि सीता को रावण की कुलीनता से प्रभावित किया जा सके। वह बताती है कि रावण का सम्बन्ध सीधा सृष्टि रचयिता ब्रह्मा से है। 'प्रजापति' वे हैं जो सृष्टि का विस्तार करते हैं। पुलस्त्य ऋषि सप्तऋषियों में से एक माने जाते हैं। राक्षसी का तर्क यह है कि रावण केवल एक शक्तिशाली राजा ही नहीं, बल्कि एक दिव्य और ब्राह्मण कुल का वंशज है। यह पौराणिक सन्दर्भ रावण के चरित्र की जटिलता को भी दर्शाता है—उच्च कुल में जन्म लेकर भी कर्मों से राक्षस।
