तामभिक्रम्य संरब्धा वेपमानां समन्ततः ।
भृशं संलिलिहुर्दीप्तान्प्रलम्बदशनच्छदान् ।

tāmabhikramya saṃrabdhā vepamānāṃ samantataḥ |
bhṛśaṃ saṃlilihurdīptānpralambadaśanacchadān ॥5-22-10॥
Translation
Approaching the trembling Sita from all sides in fury, they repeatedly licked their glowing, hanging lips.

कांपती हुई सीता को चारों ओर से घेरकर, वे क्रुद्ध राक्षसियाँ अपने लटकते हुए और फड़कते हुए (विशाल) होठों को बार-बार चाटने लगीं।
English Commentary
The imagery turns grotesque and predatory. The Rakshasis physically close in ('abhikramya') on the trembling victim. The act of licking their 'hanging lips' ('pralamba-daśana-cchadān') suggests a culinary anticipation—they are looking at Sita not as a queen, but as meat. This primal, cannibalistic threat is designed to induce visceral terror. The contrast between the trembling, delicate Sita and the lip-licking monsters creates a scene of intense horror and vulnerability.
