एतदुक्तं च मे वाक्यं यदि त्वं न करिष्यसि ।
अस्मिन्मुहूर्ते सर्वास्त्वां भक्षयिष्यामहे वयम् ।

Etaduktaṃ ca me vākyaṃ yadi tvaṃ na kariṣyasi |
Asminmuhūrte sarvāstvāṃ bhakṣayiṣyāmahe vayam ॥5-22-22॥
Translation
And if you do not do as I have told you, we shall all devour you this very moment.

और यदि तुम मेरे द्वारा कही गई इस बात को नहीं मानोगी, तो हम सब मिलकर इसी मुहूर्त में तुम्हें खा जाएँगी।
English Commentary
The veneer of "friendly advice" vanishes instantly, replaced by a brutal ultimatum. The transition from offering queenship to threatening cannibalism highlights the volatile and savage nature of the Rakshasis. The threat is immediate (asmin muhurte - in this very moment) and collective (sarva... vayam - all of us). This is the "stick" following the "carrot." It is designed to induce panic, forcing Sita to make a rash decision out of fear for her physical safety. It underscores the absolute lack of morality in Ravana's kingdom, where non-compliance is met with death.

अब 'साम' और 'दान' की नीति समाप्त होती है और 'दंड' (भय) का प्रयोग शुरू होता है। विनता अपनी बात को सीधे मृत्युदंड (Death threat) पर खत्म करती है। 'अस्मिन्मुहूर्ते' (इसी क्षण) शब्द का प्रयोग तात्कालिकता और संकट को दर्शाता है। यह धमकी केवल मारने की नहीं, बल्कि 'भक्षण' (खाने) की है, जो राक्षसी स्वभाव के अनुरूप है। यह सीता के धैर्य की परीक्षा है—एक तरफ राजसी सुख का प्रलोभन और दूसरी तरफ़ विभत्स मृत्यु का भय। सीता का निर्भीक रहना उनके आत्मबल का प्रमाण है।
