अन्या तु विकटा नाम लम्बमानपयोधरा ।
अब्रवीत्कुपिता सीतां मुष्टिमुद्यम्य गर्जती ।

Anyā tu Vikaṭā nāma lambamānapayodhara |
Abravītkupitā sītāṃ muṣṭimudyamya garjatī ॥5-22-23॥
Translation
Then another [demoness] named Vikata, who had hanging breasts, raised her fist in anger and, roaring, spoke to Sita.

तब 'विकटा' नामक एक दूसरी राक्षसी, जिसके स्तन लटक रहे थे, क्रोधित होकर मुट्ठी तानकर और गरजती हुई सीता से बोली।
English Commentary
The narrative focus shifts to another tormentor, Vikata. Her name implies deformity or horror. The poet describes her with lambamana-payodhara (pendulous/hanging breasts), reinforcing the imagery of repulsive aging and savage wildness typical of Rakshasis in the epic. Unlike Vinata’s verbal approach, Vikata adds a physical dimension to the threat by raising her fist (mushtim udyamya) and roaring (garjati). This escalation suggests that the Rakshasis are losing patience and are ready to resort to physical violence to break Sita's spirit.

विनता के बाद अब 'विकटा' का प्रवेश होता है। 'विकटा' का अर्थ ही है 'भयानक' या 'विकृत'। वाल्मीकि जी पुनः शारीरिक कुरूपता का वर्णन करते हैं—'लम्बमानपयोधरा' (लटकते स्तनों वाली)। यह वर्णन राक्षसियों की तामसिक और पाशविक प्रकृति को दिखाता है। विकटा का 'मुट्ठी तानना' (मुष्टिमुद्यम्य) शारीरिक हिंसा का संकेत है। अब बात केवल मौखिक धमकी तक सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि शारीरिक प्रहार का भय भी दिखाया जा रहा है। 'गर्जती' (गरजना) शब्द शेर या जंगली जानवर जैसी ध्वनि का सूचक है, जो वातावरण को और अधिक भयावह बनाता है।
