मानुषी मानुषस्यैव भार्यात्वं बहु मन्यसे ।
प्रत्याहर मनो रामान्न त्वं जातु भविष्यसि ।

mānuṣī mānuṣasyaiva bhāryātvaṃ bahu manyase |
pratyāhara mano rāmānna tvaṃ jātu bhaviṣyasi ॥5-22-3॥
Translation
Being a human woman yourself, do you highly esteem being the wife of a mere human? Withdraw your mind from Rama; you shall never belong to him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(स्वयं) मानवी होकर तुम एक मनुष्य की पत्नी होने को ही बहुत बड़ा (सौभाग्य) मानती हो? राम (के प्रति आसक्ति) से अपने मन को हटा लो, तुम कभी भी (उनकी) नहीं हो सकोगी।
English Commentary
The Rakshasis employ a strategy of racial superiority, mocking Sita's humanity ('Mānuṣī'). They imply that her loyalty to Rama is merely a limited human perspective, unable to comprehend the superior glory of the Rakshasa race. By framing her devotion as a flaw of her species, they attempt to belittle her values. The command to "withdraw your mind" suggests that her attachment is the only obstacle to her 'happiness.' Crucially, they assert the impossibility of her reunion with Rama to induce despair, hoping that once hope is lost, compliance will follow.

राक्षसियाँ यहाँ सीता की जातीय पहचान (humanity) पर प्रहार कर रही हैं। वे 'मानुषी' शब्द का प्रयोग उपहास के रूप में करती हैं, यह जताने के लिए कि मनुष्यों का सामर्थ्य राक्षसों के सामने तुच्छ है। उनका तर्क है कि सीता अपनी सीमित मानवीय बुद्धि के कारण ही राम को महत्व दे रही हैं, जबकि रावण जैसा दिव्य शक्तिशाली पुरुष उनके सामने है। 'प्रत्याहर मनो रामात्' (राम से मन को खींच लो) एक मनोवैज्ञानिक आदेश है। वे सीता की आशा को तोड़ना चाहती हैं यह कहकर कि राम से पुनर्मिलन असंभव ('न त्वं जातु भविष्यसि') है। यह सीता के मनोबल को तोड़ने का प्रयास है।
