स्त्रीसहस्राणि ते सप्त वशे स्थास्यन्ति सुन्दरि ।
रावणं भज भर्तारं भर्तारं सर्वरक्षसाम् ।
।
॥५-२२-३१॥
Strīsahasrāṇi te sapta vaśe sthāsyanti sundari । Rāvaṇaṃ bhaja bhartāraṃ bhartāraṃ sarvarakṣasām । । ॥5-22-31॥
Translation
Seven thousand women will be under your control, O beautiful one. Accept Ravana, the lord of all demons, as your husband.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सुंदरी! सात हजार स्त्रियाँ तुम्हारे वश में (सेवा में) रहेंगी। तुम सब राक्षसों के स्वामी रावण को पति रूप में भजो।
English Commentary
This verse offers the ultimate bait: power and hierarchy. Promising dominion over 'seven thousand women,' the Rakshasis try to appeal to pride and ego. They urge her to accept Ravana not just as a lover, but as bhartāraṃ (husband/lord), emphasizing his status as the ruler of all demons. They mistake Sita's humility for lack of ambition, failing to grasp that she desires no queenship other than the rightful place by Rama's side in the forest.

प्रलोभन की पराकाष्ठा यहाँ दिखाई देती है—सत्ता और शक्ति का लोभ। राक्षसियाँ सीता को रावण की पटरानी बनने का प्रस्ताव दे रही हैं, जिसके अधीन हजारों दासियाँ होंगी। वे रावण की शक्ति ('सर्व राक्षसों का भर्ता') का बखान करती हैं। यह कूटनीति का 'दान' और 'भेद' अंग है। वे समझती हैं कि शायद ऐश्वर्य और प्रभुत्व की लालसा सीता को डिगा सके, किंतु वे यह नहीं जानतीं कि सीता के लिए राम का दास्य भाव, लंका के साम्राज्य से कहीं अधिक मूल्यवान है।
