Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
उत्पाट्य वा ते हृदयं भक्षण करिष्यामि मैथिलि ।
यदि मे व्याहृतं वाक्यं न यथावत्करिष्यसि ।

Utpāṭya vā te hṛdayaṃ bhakṣayiṣyāmi maithili । Yadi me vyāhṛtaṃ vākyaṃ na yathāvatkariṣyasi । । ॥5-22-32॥
Translation
Or else, I will tear out your heart and eat it, O Maithili, if you do not do exactly as I say.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अथवा, हे मैथिली! यदि तू मेरा कहा हुआ वचन ठीक तरह से नहीं करेगी, तो मैं तेरा हृदय उखाड़कर खा जाऊँगी।
English Commentary
The mask slips completely, shifting from seduction to savage threat. The connective vā (or else) marks the transition to the policy of danda (punishment). The threat is graphic and visceral: tearing out the heart (hṛdayaṃ utpāṭya). This illustrates the volatile nature of the Rakshasis; their 'kindness' was merely a tool for manipulation. When flattery fails, they revert to their primal, cannibalistic nature to terrorize Sita into submission.

जब 'साम' और 'दान' की नीतियां विफल हो गईं, तो राक्षसियाँ अब 'दंड' (भय) पर उतर आई हैं। स्वर में अचानक परिवर्तन देखिए—अभी तक जो सुंदरता की प्रशंसा कर रही थीं, वे अब सीधे 'हृदय उखाड़कर खाने' की धमकी दे रही हैं। 'उत्पाट्य' (उखाड़कर) शब्द अत्यंत क्रूरता दर्शाता है। यह सीता की मानसिक दृढ़ता की परीक्षा है। एक ओर रानियों जैसा जीवन और दूसरी ओर नृशंस मृत्यु—राक्षसियाँ सीता को इन दो विकल्पों के बीच कुचलना चाहती हैं।
