ततस्तु प्रघसा नाम राक्षसी वाक्यमब्रवीत् ।
कण्ठमस्या नृशंसायाः पीडयामः किमास्यते ।

Tatastu praghasā nāma rākṣasī vākyamabravīt । Kaṇṭhamasyā nṛśaṃsāyāḥ pīḍayāmaḥ kimāsyate । । ॥5-22-36॥
Translation
Then a Rakshasi named Praghasa spoke: 'Let us strangle the throat of this cruel woman. Why are we sitting?'

तब 'प्रघसा' (पेटू/ज्यादा खाने वाली) नाम की राक्षसी ने यह वचन कहा—"इस क्रूर (सीता) का गला घोंट देते हैं, हम क्यों बैठे हैं?"
English Commentary
Praghasa ('The Glutton') proposes immediate action: strangulation. Ironically, she labels Sita as nṛśaṃsā (cruel or wicked). This is a psychological inversion where the victim is blamed for the aggressor's frustration. To the Rakshasis, Sita's chastity is an act of cruelty because it prevents them from pleasing Ravana or, alternatively, from eating her. The question 'Why are we sitting?' urges the mob to move from threats to execution.

प्रघसा का प्रस्ताव सीधा और हिंसक है—गला घोंटना। ध्यान देने योग्य बात यह है कि वह सीता को 'नृशंसायाः' (क्रूर) कहती है। यह 'विक्टिम ब्लेमिंग' (पीड़ित को दोषी ठहराना) का उदाहरण है। राक्षसी की नजर में सीता 'क्रूर' है क्योंकि वह रावण की बात नहीं मान रही और राक्षसियों को उनका मांस खाने से रोक रही है (जिंदा रहकर)। 'किमास्यते' (क्यों बैठे हैं?) उतावलेपन और हिंसा की तत्परता को दर्शाता है।
