निवेद्यतां ततो राज्ञे मानुषी सा मृतेति ह ।
नात्र कश्चन सन्देहः खादतेति स वक्ष्यति ।

Nivedyatāṃ tato rājñe mānuṣī sā mṛteti ha । Nātra kaścana sandehaḥ khādateti sa vakṣyati । । ॥5-22-37॥
Translation
'Then let it be reported to the King that the human woman died. There is no doubt he will say 'Eat her'.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
"फिर राजा (रावण) को सूचना दी जाए कि वह मानुषी मर गई। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि वे कहेंगे—'उसे खा जाओ'।"
English Commentary
The Rakshasis hatch a conspiracy. Knowing they cannot eat Sita while she is under Ravana's protection, they plan to murder her and falsely report it as a natural death. Their certainty that Ravana will say khādata ('Eat her') reflects their understanding of Ravana's psyche: once Sita is dead and useless for pleasure, she becomes nothing more than food. It underscores the utter lack of dignity accorded to humans in Lanka.

यहाँ राक्षसियों का षड्यंत्र सामने आता है। वे जानती हैं कि रावण की अनुमति के बिना वे सीता को मार नहीं सकतीं, इसलिए वे हत्या करके उसे स्वाभाविक मृत्यु बताने की योजना बनाती हैं। उन्हें विश्वास है कि यदि सीता मर गई, तो रावण का उसमें कोई मोह नहीं रहेगा और वह उसे खाने की आज्ञा दे देगा। यह रावण के चरित्र पर भी प्रकाश डालता है—राक्षसियों को पता है कि उनका राजा प्रेम नहीं, बल्कि केवल अधिकार और भोग की भाषा समझता है।
