तम पद्मदलपत्राक्षं सिंहविक्रान्तगामिनम् ।
धन्याः पश्यन्ति मे नाथं कृतज्ञं प्रियवादिनम् ।
।
॥५-२३-१६॥
Taṃ padmadalapatrākṣaṃ siṃhavikrāntagāminam |
Dhanyāḥ paśyanti me nāthaṃ kṛtajñaṃ priyavādinam ॥5-23-16॥
Translation
Fortunate indeed are those who see my Lord, whose eyes are like lotus petals, who walks with the gait of a lion, who is grateful, and who speaks pleasantly.
हिंदी अनुवाद
धन्य हैं वे लोग जो कमल की पंखुड़ी के समान नेत्र वाले, सिंह के समान पराक्रमी चाल वाले, कृतज्ञ और प्रिय बोलने वाले मेरे स्वामी (राम) के दर्शन करते हैं।
English Commentary
Shiftng from her misery, Sita immerses herself in the memory of Rama’s glory. She describes him with four distinct adjectives covering his beauty, valor, and character. He has eyes like lotus petals (beauty), a gait like a lion (valor/confidence), he is krtajnam (grateful/remembers help rendered), and priyavadin (soft-spoken). By calling those who currently see him "fortunate" (dhanyah), she emphasizes her own misfortune. This verse serves as a testament to her deep love; even in her darkest hour, the thought of his perfection brings a mix of adoration and painful longing.

अपने दुख का वर्णन करते-करते सीता जी का ध्यान प्रभु राम के स्वरूप की ओर जाता है। यह 'स्मृति' संचारी भाव है। वह राम के शारीरिक और चारित्रिक गुणों को याद करती हैं। 'पद्मदलपत्राक्षं' (कमल नयन) उनकी सुंदरता को, 'सिंहविक्रान्तगामिनम्' (सिंह जैसी चाल) उनके पौरुष और वीर रस को, 'कृतज्ञं' उनके धर्म और नैतिकता को, और 'प्रियवादिनम्' उनकी सौम्यता को दर्शाता है। सीता जी उन लोगों से ईर्ष्या मिश्रित प्रशंसा कर रही हैं जो इस समय राम के पास हैं। उन्हें लगता है कि राम को देख पाना ही जीवन का सबसे बड़ा सौभाग्य है, जिससे वह अभी वंचित हैं।
