Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
छिन्ना भिन्ना विभक्ता वा दीप्ते वाग्नौ प्रदीपिता ।
रावणं नोपतिष्ठेयं किं प्रलापेन वश् चिरम् ।
।
॥५-२४-११॥
Chinnā bhinnā vibhaktā vā dīpte vāgnau pradīpitā |
Rāvaṇam nopatiṣṭheyaṃ kiṃ pralāpena vaś ciram ॥5-24-11॥
Translation
Even if I am cut, split, divided, or burned in a blazing fire, I will not approach Ravana. What is the use of your prattling for so long?
हिंदी अनुवाद
चाहे मुझे काट दिया जाए, टुकड़े-टुकड़े कर दिया जाए, अलग-अलग कर दिया जाए या धधकती आग में जला दिया जाए, मैं रावण के पास नहीं जाऊँगी। तुम लोगों के देर तक बकबक करने (प्रलाप) से क्या लाभ?
English Commentary
This verse is Sita's ultimatum to the harassing guards. She lists extreme forms of physical destruction—being cut, split, or incinerated in fire—and declares that even these cannot force her to accept Ravana (Ravanam no upatishtheyam). She dismisses the threats and coaxing of the Rakshasis as pralapa (useless prattling/babble). It demonstrates her absolute spiritual fortitude; her physical body may be vulnerable to their weapons, but her will is immutable. She effectively shuts down the conversation, rendering their efforts futile.

सीता जी राक्षसियों से वार्तालाप समाप्त करते हुए अपना अंतिम फैसला सुनाती हैं। शारीरिक यातना का कोई भी रूप—काटना ('छिन्ना'), भेदना ('भिन्ना'), या जलाना ('प्रदीपिता')—उनके संकल्प को डिगा नहीं सकता। वह राक्षसियों की बातों को 'प्रलाप' (बकवास/व्यर्थ की बात) कहती हैं। यह श्लोक उनके अदम्य साहस का परिचायक है। वह मृत्यु को स्वीकार कर सकती हैं, लेकिन परपुरुष (रावण) को नहीं। यह सतीत्व की वह शक्ति है जिसके सामने मृत्यु का भय भी हार जाता है।
