राक्षसानां जनस्थाने सहस्राणि चतुर्दश ।
येनैकेन निरस्तानि स मां किं नाभिपद्यते ।

Rākṣasānāṃ janasthāne sahasrāṇi caturdaśa |

Translation
Why does he, who single-handedly destroyed fourteen thousand demons in Janasthana, not come to rescue me?

जिस (राम) ने जनस्थान में अकेले ही चौदह हजार राक्षसों का संहार कर दिया था, वह (इतने शक्तिशाली होकर भी) मुझे छुड़ाने के लिए क्यों नहीं आ रहे हैं?
English Commentary
Sita recalls the incredible feat Rama performed in Janasthana, where he single-handedly annihilated 14,000 demons led by Khara and Dushana. This memory serves as a benchmark for Rama's prowess. By citing this specific event, Sita validates her expectation of rescue—she knows he is capable. The verse highlights her internal conflict: knowing his infinite capability makes his absence even more baffling and painful. It is not a question of can he save her, but why he hasn't yet.

सीता जी यहाँ राम के पराक्रम का स्मरण कर रही हैं। उन्हें याद है कि दण्डकारण्य के जनस्थान में खर-दूषण के नेतृत्व में आए 14,000 राक्षसों को राम ने बिना किसी सेना की सहायता के, अकेले ही मार गिराया था। यह स्मृति उनके मन में एक द्वंद्व उत्पन्न करती है: एक ओर उन्हें राम की शक्ति पर पूर्ण विश्वास है, और दूसरी ओर आश्चर्य है कि वही शक्ति अब उनके उद्धार के लिए क्यों प्रकट नहीं हो रही। यह श्लोक यह सिद्ध करता है कि सीता को राम के सामर्थ्य पर रत्ती भर भी संदेह नहीं है; उनका प्रश्न केवल विलंब के कारण को लेकर है।
