यादृशानि तु दृश्यन्ते लङ्कायामशुभानि तु ।
अचिरेणैव कालेन भविष्यति हतप्रभा ।

Yādṛśāni tu dṛśyante laṅkāyāmaśubhāni tu |
Acireṇaiva kālena bhaviṣyati hataprabhā ॥5-24-26॥
Translation
Judging by the inauspicious omens that are being seen in Lanka, it is certain that in a very short time, this city will be bereft of its splendor and glory.

लंका में जैसे-जैसे अशुभ शकुन दिखाई दे रहे हैं, उनसे निश्चित होता है कि बहुत ही शीघ्र यह नगरी अपनी सारी कान्ति और वैभव खो देगी (निस्तेज हो जाएगी)।
English Commentary
Sita continues her prophetic observation of Lanka. She notes that the city is teeming with inauspicious signs (aśubhāni). To her eyes, the golden city is already a crumbling ruin. The term hataprabhā (killed luster/bereft of glory) is significant; it implies that the spiritual and vital energy of the city has already been drained by Ravana’s sins, and the physical destruction is merely a formality that will follow soon. This verse underscores the theme that external pomp cannot hide internal rot. Sita, representing the perceptive power of chastity and truth, sees past the illusion of Ravana’s wealth to the inevitable darkness that awaits a civilization built on the suffering of others.

सीता जी यहाँ लंका के आसन्न विनाश का वर्णन कर रही हैं। वे कहती हैं कि लंका का वर्तमान वैभव क्षणिक है। "हतप्रभा" का अर्थ है जिसकी प्रभा या चमक नष्ट हो गई हो। रावण की लंका अपनी स्वर्णमयी आभा और ऐश्वर्य के लिए प्रसिद्ध थी, लेकिन सीता जी देख रही हैं कि पाप के भार से यह चमक काली पड़ने वाली है। शास्त्रों में कहा गया है कि विनाश से पहले प्रकृति चेतावनी देती है; सीता जी उन्हीं अपशकुनों की ओर संकेत कर रही हैं। यह श्लोक यह भी दर्शाता है कि भौतिक समृद्धि चाहे कितनी भी अधिक क्यों न हो, यदि उसकी नींव अधर्म पर टिकी है, तो उसका अंधकार में विलीन होना तय है। सीता जी का यह कथन शाप नहीं, बल्कि एक सत्य का उद्घाटन है।
