राघवस्याप्रमत्तस्य रक्षसा कामरूपिणा ।
रावणेन प्रमथ्याहमानीता क्रोशती बलात् ।

Rāghavasyāpramattasya rakṣasā kāmarūpiṇā |
Rāvaṇena pramathyāhamānītā krośatī balāt ॥5-24-3॥
Translation
Though belonging to the vigilant Raghava, I was forcibly abducted by the shape-shifting demon Ravana, who overpowered me while I was screaming.

सतर्क रहने वाले राघव (राम) के होते हुए भी (छल से), कामरूप (वेष बदलने वाले) राक्षस रावण द्वारा मुझे चिल्लाते हुए और बलपूर्वक सताकर यहाँ लाया गया।
English Commentary
Sita recounts the trauma of her abduction. She refers to Rama as apramattasya (vigilant/watchful) to defend his honor—implying that he was not negligent, but deceived by magic. She emphasizes Ravana's deceitful nature as kamarupina (shape-shifter). The verse highlights her total lack of consent and her resistance; she was kroshti (screaming/wailing) and taken balat (by force). It underscores the violent nature of her separation from Rama, distinguishing it as a crime of abduction rather than a failure of protection on Rama's part in a fair combat.

सीता जी उस दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण क्षण को याद कर रही हैं जब उनका हरण हुआ था। वह राम को 'अप्रमत्त' (सावधान/सतर्क) कहती हैं, यह स्पष्ट करने के लिए कि राम की वीरता में कोई कमी नहीं थी; यह रावण का छल ('कामरूपिणा') था जिसने यह स्थिति उत्पन्न की। 'प्रमथ्य' का अर्थ है मथ देना या बुरी तरह सताना। वह अपनी विवशता बता रही हैं कि वह 'क्रोशती' (चिल्लाती) रहीं, लेकिन रावण उन्हें बलपूर्वक ले आया। यह श्लोक यह स्थापित करता है कि सीता का अपहरण शक्ति से नहीं, बल्कि छल और कपट से हुआ था।
