सान्धकारा हतद्योता हतराक्षसपुङ्गवा ।
भविष्यति पुरी लङ्का निर्दग्धा रामसायकैः ।

Sāndhakārā hatadyotā hatarākṣasapuṅgavā |
Bhaviṣyati purī laṅkā nirdagdhā rāmasāyakaiḥ ॥5-24-30॥
Translation
Burnt completely by Rama's arrows, the city of Lanka will become shrouded in darkness, bereft of luster, with its leading Rakshasa warriors slain.

श्रीराम के बाणों से भली-भाँति जलकर यह लंका नगरी अंधकारमय हो जाएगी, इसकी चमक नष्ट हो जाएगी और इसके श्रेष्ठ राक्षस वीर मारे जाएंगे।
English Commentary
Sita visualizes the climax of the coming war. She attributes the destruction directly to Rāmasāyakaiḥ (Rama's arrows). The imagery is intense: a city that was once glowing with gold is now sāndhakārā (darkened/filled with smoke) and nirdagdhā (burnt down). This verse connects the physical burning of Lanka (which Hanuman will later initiate, and the war will complete) with the elimination of its leadership (hatarākṣasapuṅgavā). Sita is not just hoping for rescue; she is envisioning a military conquest. It asserts her knowledge of Rama’s capabilities—that he is not just a virtuous man, but a warrior capable of scorching the earth to uphold righteousness.

यहाँ सीता जी श्रीराम के पराक्रम का स्मरण करती हैं। उन्हें पूर्ण विश्वास है कि श्रीराम के बाण ("रामसायकैः") अग्नि के समान लंका को भस्म कर देंगे। "सान्धकारा" (अंधकार से युक्त) शब्द का प्रयोग प्रतीकात्मक और वास्तविक दोनों है—धुएं से आकाश काला होगा और वीरों के मरने से आशा का प्रकाश बुझ जाएगा। "राक्षसपुङ्गवा" का अर्थ है श्रेष्ठ या बलवान राक्षस। सीता जी जानती हैं कि रावण की सेना कितनी भी विशाल क्यों न हो, श्रीराम के तेज के सामने वह टिक नहीं पाएगी। यह श्लोक सीता जी के उस अटूट विश्वास (Faith) को दर्शाता है जो वे अपने पति के शौर्य पर रखती हैं, भले ही वे उनसे मीलों दूर कैद में हैं।
