नैते धर्मं विजानन्ति राक्षसाः पिशिताशनाः ।
ध्रुवं मां प्रातराशार्थे राक्षसः कल्पयिष्यति ।
।
॥५-२४-३४॥
Naite dharmaṃ vijānanti rākṣasāḥ piśitāśanāḥ |
Dhruvaṃ māṃ prātarāśārthe rākṣasaḥ kalpayiṣyati ॥5-24-34॥
Translation
These flesh-eating Rakshasas do not understand Dharma (righteousness). Surely, the Rakshasa (Ravana) will execute me/prepare me for his morning meal.

ये मांसभक्षी राक्षस धर्म को नहीं जानते। निश्चित रूप से वह राक्षस (रावण) मुझे अपने सुबह के नाश्ते (प्रातराश) के लिए तैयार करेगा (मरवा डालेगा)।
English Commentary
Sita faces the gruesome reality of her captors' nature. She calls them piśitāśanāḥ (flesh-eaters), emphasizing their barbaric tendencies over any civilized conduct. Her fear is specific and visceral: she believes Ravana will have her killed and served for prātarāśārthe (breakfast/morning meal). This removes any romanticized notion of her captivity; she is viewing herself as livestock in the eyes of the Rakshasas. The statement "they do not know Dharma" implies that no plea for mercy or justice will work. This realization of imminent, violent death drives her despair to its absolute depth.

यहाँ सीता जी का भय अपने चरम पर है। वे राक्षसों को "पिशिताशनाः" (कच्चा मांस खाने वाले) कहती हैं। उन्हें भय है कि रावण अपनी समय-सीमा समाप्त होने पर उन्हें मार डालेगा और खा जाएगा। "प्रातराशार्थे" (सुबह के भोजन के लिए) शब्द रोंगटे खड़े करने वाला है। यह सीता जी की स्थिति की भयावहता को दिखाता है—वे न केवल कैद में हैं, बल्कि आदमखोरों के बीच हैं। उन्हें लगता है कि धर्म की दुहाई देने का इन पर कोई असर नहीं होगा क्योंकि वे धर्म को जानते ही नहीं। यह श्लोक उस घोर संकट और असहायता को व्यक्त करता है जिसने सीता जी को आत्महत्या के विचार की ओर धकेला।
