साहं कथं करिष्यामि तं विना प्रियदर्शनम् ।
रामं रक्तान्तनयनमपश्यन्ती सुदुःखिता ।
।
॥५-२४-३५॥
Sāhaṃ kathaṃ kariṣyāmi taṃ vinā priyadarśanam |
Rāmaṃ raktāntanayanamapaśyantī suduḥkhitā ॥5-24-35॥
Translation
I am in deep grief. Without seeing that pleasant-looking Rama with red-cornered eyes, how shall I manage (to live) without him?
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं अत्यंत दुखी हूँ। उन प्रियदर्शन और लाल नेत्रों वाले श्रीराम को देखे बिना, मैं उनके बिना क्या करूँगी (कैसे जीवित रहूँगी)?
English Commentary
Amidst the terror of being eaten, Sita's focus shifts back to the emotional agony of separation. She refers to Rama as priyadarśanam (one whose sight brings joy). The contrast is stark: the hideous Rakshasas surround her, but her mind seeks the beautiful vision of Rama. Her rhetorical question, "How shall I manage without him?" indicates that her will to survive is tethered entirely to the hope of seeing him again. Being suduḥkhitā (extremely grieved), she feels that survival without the prospect of reunion is pointless. It is a moment of pure vulnerability and devotion.

मृत्यु के भय के बीच, सीता जी का मन फिर से श्रीराम के प्रेम में डूब जाता है। "प्रियदर्शनम्" (जिन्हें देखना सुखकारी है) शब्द का प्रयोग करके वे श्रीराम की छवि को याद करती हैं। उनका प्रश्न "कथं करिष्यामि" (मैं क्या करूँगी/कैसे रहूँगी) उनके जीवन के उद्देश्य पर प्रश्नचिह्न लगाता है। श्रीराम के बिना जीवन उन्हें निरर्थक लगता है। यहाँ 'सुदुःखिता' शब्द उनकी वेदना की तीव्रता को बताता है। यह श्लोक दर्शाता है कि सीता जी के लिए प्राणों का संकट उतना बड़ा नहीं है जितना श्रीराम के वियोग का संकट। उनका अस्तित्व श्रीराम से जुड़ा है, और उनके बिना वे स्वयं को अपूर्ण और दिशाहीन पाती हैं।
