यत्राहमेवं क्रूराभी राक्षसीभिरिकार्दिता ।
जीवामि हीना रामेण मुहूर्तमपि दुःखिता ।

yatrāhamevam krūrābhī rākṣasībhirihārditā |
jīvāmi hīnā rāmeṇa muhūrtamapi duḥkhitā ॥5-25-13॥
Translation
It is due to this (destiny) that, though tormented here by these cruel demonesses and separated from Rama, I continue to live for even a moment in such misery.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(यह उसी अकाल मृत्यु न आने का प्रभाव है) जिससे कि मैं इन क्रूर राक्षसियों द्वारा यहाँ सतायी जाने पर और राम से वियुक्त होने पर भी, इतनी दुःखी होकर एक मुहूर्त भी जीवित हूँ।
English Commentary
This verse connects the philosophical reflection of the previous verse to her immediate reality. Sita finds her own survival baffling. Logically, the combination of separation from Rama (emotional agony) and the torture by demonesses (physical/mental threat) should have ended her life. That she breathes even for a muhurta (a brief moment) is seen by her not as resilience, but as a cruel twist of fate. It emphasizes that for a devotee, existence without the Divine Lord is unnatural and excruciating.

यह पिछले श्लोक का ही विस्तार है। सीता जी को इस बात का अचंभा है कि श्री राम के बिना और राक्षसियों के अत्याचारों के बीच उनका हृदय फट क्यों नहीं गया। 'मुहूर्तमपि' (एक क्षण भी) जीवित रहना उन्हें असंभव लगता है, फिर भी वे जीवित हैं। यह प्रेम की वह पराकाष्ठा है जहाँ प्रेमी के बिना जीवन का हर पल एक युग के समान भारी और पीड़ादायक लगता है। यहाँ सीता जी का कष्ट शारीरिक कम और भावनात्मक अधिक है; राम का विरह ही उनके लिए सबसे बड़ा दंड है, राक्षसियों का भय तो गौण है।
