प्रसक्ताश्रुमुखीत्येवं ब्रुवन्ती जनकात्मजा ।
अधोमुखमुखी बाला विलप्तुमुपचक्रमे ।

Translation
Speaking thus, with her face covered in incessant tears and casting her face downward, the young daughter of Janaka began to lament.

इस प्रकार कहती हुई, आँसुओं से भरे मुख वाली, नीचे की ओर मुख किए हुए वह जनकपुत्री बाला (सीता) विलाप करने लगीं।
English Commentary
Sarga 26 opens with a visual description of Sita transitioning from thought to vocal lamentation. Her posture, adhomukhamukhī (face cast down), indicates dejection and defeat. The epithet bālā (usually young girl/innocent one) emphasizes her vulnerability and delicate nature amidst the harsh surroundings. The continuous flow of tears (prasaktāśru) sets the mood for the mournful verses that follow. It marks a shift from the philosophical anger of the previous verse to raw emotional release.

सर्ग 26 का आरम्भ सीता के विलाप के दृश्य से होता है। 'अधोमुखमुखी' (नीचे मुख किए हुए) लज्जा, संकोच और भारी दुःख का प्रतीक है। 'बाला' शब्द का प्रयोग उनकी सुकुमारता और निर्दोषता को दर्शाता है, भले ही वे विवाहिता हैं। जनक जैसे ज्ञानी पिता की पुत्री ('जनकात्मजा') होकर भी आज वे साधारण स्त्री की भांति रो रही हैं, जो स्थिति की गंभीरता को बताता है। यहाँ से उनका विलाप और अधिक गहरा और विस्तृत होता है।
