किं तु तत्कारणं येन रामो दृढपराक्रमः ।
रक्षसा ऽपहृतां भार्यामिष्टां नाभ्यवपद्यते ।

Kiṃ tu tatkāraṇaṃ yena rāmo dṛḍhaparākramaḥ । Rakṣasā 'pahṛtāṃ bhāryāmiṣṭāṃ nābhyavapadyate । । ॥5-26-18॥
Translation
What then could be the reason that Rama, of firm prowess, does not come to rescue his beloved wife who has been abducted by a Rakshasa?

तो फिर वह क्या कारण है, जिससे दृढ़ पराक्रमी श्री राम राक्षस द्वारा हरी गई अपनी प्यारी पत्नी की सुध नहीं ले रहे हैं (या उसे छुड़ाने नहीं आ रहे हैं)?
English Commentary
After establishing Rama's capability and the inability of Lanka's defenses to stop him, Sita returns to the core mystery: the cause of the delay. She uses the term dṛḍhaparākramaḥ (one of firm/steadfast prowess), indicating that Rama is not someone who gives up or lacks will. She also emphasizes her relationship to him as iṣṭā bhāryā (beloved wife), reaffirming their bond. The logic implies: "He has the power, he has the will, and he loves me. Therefore, his absence is inexplicable." This is a heartbreaking moment of rationalization where she tries to solve the puzzle of her continued captivity, moving from emotional distress to logical deduction.

पिछले श्लोकों में राम की शक्ति और बाणों की गति का वर्णन करने के बाद, सीता जी पुनः उसी प्रश्न पर लौटती हैं—"देरी क्यों?"। यहाँ 'दृढपराक्रमः' विशेषण का प्रयोग महत्वपूर्ण है; वे जानती हैं कि राम का संकल्प कभी डगमगाता नहीं है। वे यह भी जानती हैं कि वे राम की 'इष्टा भार्या' (प्रिय पत्नी) हैं। जब शक्ति भी है और प्रेम भी, तो फिर निष्क्रियता क्यों? यह श्लोक सीता जी के मानसिक द्वंद्व को दर्शाता है। वे विभिन्न संभावनाओं पर विचार कर रही हैं। यह हताशा का नहीं, बल्कि गहरे विश्लेषण का क्षण है जहाँ वह यह समझने का प्रयास कर रही हैं कि आखिर नियति या परिस्थिति का कौन सा पेंच फंसा है जिसने राम को रोक रखा है।
