विधमेच्च पुरीं लङ्कां शोषयेच्च महोदधिम् ।
रावणस्य च नीचस्य कीर्तिं नाम च नाशयेत् ।
।
॥५-२६-२३॥
Vidhamecca purīṃ laṅkāṃ śoṣayecca mahodadhiṃ । Rāvaṇasya ca nīcasya kīrtiṃ nāma ca nāśayet । । ॥5-26-23॥
Translation
He would destroy the city of Lanka, dry up the great ocean, and destroy the name and fame of the vile Ravana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे लंका पुरी को विध्वंस कर देंगे, महासागर को सुखा देंगे और उस नीच रावण की कीर्ति और नाम का नाश कर देंगे।
English Commentary
Sita expands on the scale of Rama’s retribution. It involves three levels of destruction: structural (destroying the city of Lanka), ecological/elemental (drying up the ocean), and existential (destroying Ravana's fame and name). In the context of ancient values, destroying a king's kīrti (fame/reputation) is more severe than physical death. By calling Ravana nīca (vile/base), she justifies this total erasure. She predicts that Rama will leave no trace of Ravana’s glory, turning his golden legacy into dust and shame.

विनाश का क्रम और विस्तार यहाँ वर्णित है। सीता जी कहती हैं कि राम न केवल रावण को मारेंगे, बल्कि उसके पूरे साम्राज्य (लंका) को ध्वस्त कर देंगे। प्रकृति भी उनके क्रोध से नहीं बचेगी—विशाल समुद्र भी सुखा दिया जाएगा। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात, वे कहती हैं कि राम रावण के 'नाम और कीर्ति' का नाश करेंगे। किसी योद्धा के लिए मृत्यु से बदतर उसका अपयश होता है। 'नीचस्य' (नीच का) शब्द रावण के प्रति उनकी घृणा को दर्शाता है। सीता जानती हैं कि रावण का अंत केवल शारीरिक मृत्यु नहीं, बल्कि ऐतिहासिक कलंक होगा।
