राघवस्य प्रमत्तस्य रक्षसा कामरूपिणा ।
रावणेन प्रमथ्याहमानीता क्रोशती बलात् ।

rāghavasya pramattasya rakṣasā kāmarūpiṇā |
rāvaṇena pramathyāhamānītā krośatī balāt ॥5-26-3॥
Translation
While Raghava was distracted, I was violently abducted by the shape-shifting demon Ravana, wailing and being tormented.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मायावी रूप धारण करने वाले राक्षस रावण ने, राघव (राम) के प्रमत्त (असावधान/भ्रमित) होने पर, मुझे ज़बरदस्ती सताते हुए और विलाप करते हुए मेरा अपहरण किया था।
English Commentary
Sita recounts the trauma of her abduction. She acknowledges the strategic deception used by Ravana. The term pramattasya for Rama refers to him being lured away or distracted by the golden deer (Maricha), leaving him "off-guard" regarding Sita's safety. It clarifies that Ravana did not confront Rama in direct battle but used trickery (kāmarūpiṇā - shape-shifting). Pramathya (having tormented/churned) indicates the physical violence of the abduction, contrasting with the romanticized versions of later eras. It reinforces that she was a victim of force (balāt).

इस श्लोक में सीता जी अपने अपहरण की घटना को याद कर रही हैं। यहाँ श्री राम के लिए 'प्रमत्तस्य' शब्द का प्रयोग बहुत संभलकर समझने योग्य है। इसका अर्थ यहाँ 'नशे में' नहीं, बल्कि 'असावधान' या 'भ्रमित' (मारीच मृग के छल के संदर्भ में) है। सीता स्वीकार करती हैं कि रावण ने 'कामरूपिणा' (छल से रूप बदलने की शक्ति) का लाभ उठाया और राम की अनुपस्थिति या ध्यान बंटने का फायदा उठाकर उन्हें 'बलात्' (बलपूर्वक) हर लाया। 'प्रमथ्य' (मथकर/पीड़ा देकर) शब्द रावण की क्रूरता को दर्शाता है।
