सान्धकारा हतद्योता हतराक्षसपुङ्गवा ।
भविष्यति पुरी लङ्का निर्दग्धा रामसायकैः ।

Sāndhakārā hatadyotā hatarākṣasapuṅgavā |
Bhaviṣyati purī laṅkā nirdagdhā rāmasāyakaiḥ ॥5-26-32॥
Translation
Burnt by Rama's arrows, this city of Lanka will become shrouded in darkness, bereft of luster, and void of its best demon warriors.

श्रीराम के बाणों से जलकर यह लंका नगरी अंधकारमय, कांतिहीन और श्रेष्ठ राक्षसों से रहित हो जाएगी।
English Commentary
Sita identifies the specific agent of destruction: Rama-sayakaih (Rama's arrows). The imagery is intense and fiery. She uses the word nirdagdha, implying that the city will be scorched or burnt down (a foreshadowing of Hanuman’s action, though here she attributes the ultimate power to Rama). The contrast is stark: the currently glittering city will become sa-andhakara (full of darkness) and hata-dyota (light/glory destroyed). She envisions the elimination of the rakshasa-pungava (the bulls/best among the demons). This verse serves as a morale booster for herself, affirming that the current supremacy of the Rakshasas is temporary and will be dismantled by the superior firepower and spiritual potency of Rama.

यहाँ सीता जी स्पष्ट करती हैं कि लंका के विनाश का माध्यम (instrument) कौन होगा— 'रामसायकैः' (श्रीराम के बाण)। वे मानसिक नेत्रों से देख रही हैं कि राम के तेजस्वी बाण अग्नि की वर्षा करेंगे, जिससे लंका 'निर्दग्धा' (भली-भांति जलकर राख) हो जाएगी। अभी जो लंका रत्नों और मणियों से जगमगा रही है, वह 'सान्धकारा' (अंधकार युक्त) हो जाएगी। 'हतराक्षसपुङ्गवा' का अर्थ है कि राक्षसों के 'पुंगव' (श्रेष्ठ वीर/बैल) मारे जाएंगे। यह श्लोक सीता के अटूट विश्वास का प्रमाण है। बंदी होते हुए भी, उन्हें रंच मात्र भी संदेह नहीं है कि राम अकेले ही इस विशाल और मायावी नगरी को भस्म करने में सक्षम हैं।
