अनेन तु नृशंसेन रावणेनाधमेन मे ।
समयो यस्तु निर्दिष्टस्तस्य कालो ऽयमागतः ।
।
॥५-२६-३४॥
Anena tu nṛśaṃsena rāvaṇenādhamena me |
Samayo yastu nirdiṣṭastasya kālo 'yamāgataḥ ॥5-26-34॥
Translation
The time limit that was fixed for me by this cruel and vile Ravana has now arrived.
हिंदी अनुवाद
इस क्रूर और नीच रावण ने मेरे लिए जो अवधि (समय-सीमा) निर्धारित की थी, उसका समय अब आ पहुँचा है।
English Commentary
Sita reflects on the deadline set by Ravana. Previously, Ravana had threatened that if she did not yield to him within a specific period (mentioned elsewhere as two months remaining), she would be killed and eaten for breakfast. Sita feels this samaya (appointed time) is closing in fast. She characterizes Ravana as nrishamsa (cruel/injurious) and adhama (vile), reinforcing that his threats are not empty. This verse injects a sense of ticking-clock suspense into the narrative. It explains her vacillation between hope (Rama will come) and despair (time will run out before he arrives).
हिंदी टीका
सीता जी यहाँ उस समय-सीमा (Deadline) की बात कर रही हैं जो रावण ने उन्हें दी थी। रावण ने उन्हें कुछ मास का समय दिया था कि या तो वे उसे स्वीकार करें अन्यथा उनका वध कर दिया जाएगा। सीता जी को लग रहा है कि वह समय अब समाप्त होने वाला है ('कालो अयमागतः')। वे रावण के लिए 'नृशंसेन' (क्रूर/हिंसक) और 'अधमेन' (नीच) विशेषणों का प्रयोग करती हैं। यह श्लोक स्थिति की गंभीरता और तात्कालिकता (urgency) को बढ़ाता है। सीता जी को लगता है कि राम के आने से पहले ही शायद वह अवधि समाप्त हो जाएगी, जिससे उनके मन में मृत्यु का भय और निराशा उत्पन्न हो रही है।
