नहि मे जीवितैरर्थो नैवार्थैर्न च भूषणैः ।
वसन्त्या राक्षसीमध्ये विना रामं महारथम् ।

nahi me jīvitairartho naivārthairna ca bhūṣaṇaiḥ |
vasantyā rākṣasīmadhye vinā rāmaṃ mahāratham ॥5-26-5॥
Translation
Living amidst these demonesses without Rama, the great charioteer (warrior), I have no use for life, nor for wealth, nor for ornaments.
हिंदी अनुवाद
महारथी श्री राम के बिना इन राक्षसियों के बीच रहती हुई मेरे लिए न तो प्राणों का (जीने का) कोई प्रयोजन है, न धन का और न ही आभूषणों का।
English Commentary
Sita rejects all three components of worldly existence: jīvita (life/survival), artha (wealth/utility), and bhūṣaṇa (beauty/ornaments). Without Rama, who is described as mahāratham (a great warrior/charioteer), these things lose their intrinsic value. This epithet reminds us that she sees him as a protector who should have been there. Her statement underlines the definition of a Pativrata: her identity and joy are entirely derivative of her union with her husband. Existence in isolation, especially amidst evil (rākṣasīmadhye), is meaningless to her.

सीता जी यहाँ जीवन के सभी भौतिक सुखों को अस्वीकार करती हैं। 'महारथम्' विशेषण का प्रयोग करके वे राम के योद्धा स्वरूप को याद करती हैं, जो उनकी रक्षा करने में समर्थ हैं। पतिव्रता स्त्री के लिए पति ही उसका सबसे बड़ा 'अर्थ' (धन/प्रयोजन) और 'भूषण' (अलंकार) होता है। जब राम ही नहीं हैं, तो लंका का ऐश्वर्य या प्राणों की रक्षा उनके लिए व्यर्थ है। राक्षसियों के बीच रहना (सत्संग का अभाव और कुसंग का प्रभाव) उनके लिए नर्क समान है। यह श्लोक वैराग्य और अनन्य प्रेम का अद्भुत मिश्रण है।
