का च मे जीविते श्रद्धा सुखे वा तं प्रियं विना ।
भर्तारं सागरान्ताया वसुधायाः प्रियंवदम् ।

Translation
What interest can I have in life or happiness without that beloved husband, the sweet-speaking lord of the earth bounded by the ocean?

समुद्र तक फैली हुई पृथ्वी के स्वामी और मधुर भाषी उन प्रिय पति के बिना, मेरे लिए जीवन में या सुख में क्या रुचि (श्रद्धा) हो सकती है?
English Commentary
Sita juxtaposes the grandeur of Rama's status with her personal loss. Rama is described as the lord of the entire earth (vasudhāyāḥ) bounded by the oceans (sāgarāntāyā), yet he is absent. She specifically recalls him as priyaṃvadam (one who speaks pleasantly/kindly). This memory of his sweet nature makes the harsh speech of the Rakshasis even more unbearable. The rhetorical question 'What interest (śraddhā) do I have?' confirms her detachment from all worldly prospects of happiness without him.
हिंदी टीका
सीता जी श्री राम की महिमा का वर्णन करती हैं। राम केवल उनके पति ही नहीं, अपितु 'सागरान्ताया वसुधायाः भर्तारं' (समुद्र पर्यंत पृथ्वी के स्वामी) हैं। ऐसे महान सम्राट की पत्नी का बंदी होना विधि की विडंबना है। राम के 'प्रियंवदम्' (मधुर बोलने वाले) गुण को याद करके सीता जी को उनकी कोमलता का स्मरण हो आता है। जब जीवन का केंद्र (राम) ही साथ नहीं है, तो 'श्रद्धा' (रुचि/आस्था) किसमें हो? यह श्लोक जीवन की निरर्थकता को पुनः स्थापित करता है।
