आरुह्य पुष्पकं दिव्यं विमानं सूर्यसन्निभम् ।
उत्तरां दिशमालोक्य जगाम पुरुषोत्तमः ।

āruhya puṣpakaṃ divyaṃ vimānaṃ sūryasannibham |
uttarāṃ diśamālokya jagāma puruṣottamaḥ ॥5-27-19॥
Translation
...having ascended the divine Pushpaka Vimana which shone like the Sun, the Supreme Person (Rama) departed towards the northern direction.

...सूर्य के समान तेजस्वी दिव्य पुष्पक विमान पर चढ़कर, उत्तर दिशा की ओर देखते हुए चले गए।
English Commentary
This verse is highly prophetic. Rama boarding the Pushpaka Vimana—Ravana's prized possession—signifies total victory and the transfer of sovereignty. The direction is crucial: they move towards the North (uttarāṃ diśam). In Hindu cosmology, the North is associated with auspiciousness and is the direction of the Himalayas and Ayodhya relative to Lanka. Conversely, the South is the realm of Death. Moving North symbolizes leaving the zone of death and returning to the zone of life and dharma.

यहाँ 'पुष्पक विमान' का स्पष्ट उल्लेख है, जो रावण का वाहन है। राम का उस पर चढ़ना रावण की पराजय और उसकी संपत्ति पर राम के अधिकार को सिद्ध करता है। 'उत्तर दिशा' (उत्तरां दिशम्) का बहुत महत्व है; यह देवताओं और कुबेर की दिशा मानी जाती है, जो जीवन, सकारात्मकता और अयोध्या (जो लंका के उत्तर में है) की ओर वापसी का प्रतीक है। दक्षिण दिशा (यम की दिशा) को छोड़कर उत्तर की ओर जाना जीवन और विजय की ओर जाना है। राम को 'पुरुषोत्तम' कहा गया है, जो उनकी दिव्यता को स्थापित करता है।
