सहसोत्थाय सम्भ्रान्तो भयार्तो मदविह्वलः ।
उन्मत्त इव दिग्वासा दुर्वाक्यं प्रलपन् बहु ।

sahasotthāya sambhrānto bhayārto madavihvalaḥ |
unmatta iva digvāsā durbākyaṃ pralapan bahu ॥5-27-26॥
Translation
"Rising hurriedly, agitated, struck with fear and overwhelmed by intoxication, he began babbling many abusive/inauspicious words like a madman, stark naked."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"वह सहसा घबराकर उठा और भय से पीड़ित तथा मद (नशे/अहंकार) से विह्वल होकर, पागलों की तरह नग्न (दिगम्बर) अवस्था में बहुत सी अपशकुन वाली बातें बड़बड़ाने लगा।"
English Commentary
The psychological disintegration of the antagonist is vivid here. Digvāsā (clad only by the directions, i.e., naked) signifies the stripping away of all royal dignity, protection, and shame. In a royal context, this is the ultimate degradation. His speech is described as durbākyam (bad/foul speech or nonsensical babble), indicating that the articulate scholar-king has been reduced to a rambling madman (unmatta). The mixture of fear (bhaya) and intoxication (mada) creates a picture of absolute chaos within his soul, preceding his physical destruction.

यहाँ रावण की मानसिक विक्षिप्तता का वर्णन है। 'दिग्वासा' (दिशाएं ही जिसके वस्त्र हों, अर्थात नग्न) होना एक राजा के लिए लज्जा और मर्यादा के पूर्ण नाश का द्योतक है। स्वप्न में नग्न दिखना दरिद्रता और संकट का संकेत है। 'उन्मत्त इव' (पागल की भांति) और 'दुर्वाक्यं प्रलपन्' (बुरा बड़बड़ाना) यह बताते हैं कि विनाशकाल निकट आने पर व्यक्ति का मानसिक संतुलन बिगड़ जाता है। रावण का यह रूप उसकी बाहरी समृद्धि के भीतर छिपी हुई आध्यात्मिक रिक्तता और भय को उजागर करता है।
