अद्येदानीं तवानार्ये सीते पापविनिश्चये ।
राक्षस्यो भक्षयिष्यन्ति मांसमेतद्यथासुखम् ।

adyedānīṃ tavānārye sīte pāpaviniścaye |
rākṣasyo bhakṣayiṣyanti māṃsametadyathāsukham ॥5-27-3॥
Translation
(They said) "O ignoble one! O Sita of sinful resolve! Today, right now, we ogresses shall feast upon this flesh of yours to our heart's content."
हिंदी अनुवाद
(वे बोलीं) "हे अनार्ये! हे पापी निश्चय वाली सीते! आज अभी हम सब राक्षसियाँ मिलकर तेरे इस मांस को सुखपूर्वक खाएंगी।"
English Commentary
This verse represents the climax of the immediate threat. The Rakshasis resort to their primal cannibalistic instincts. The irony is palpable when they address Sita—the epitome of virtue—as anārye (ignoble) and pāpaviniścaye (one with sinful resolve). To the distorted minds of the demons, fidelity to one's husband against the king's wish is a "sin." This extreme threat of being eaten alive serves as the narrative trigger for the upcoming intervention by Trijata, contrasting the darkness of the Rakshasis with the impending light of hope.

यह श्लोक राक्षसियों की क्रूरता की चरम सीमा है। वे सीता को 'अनार्ये' और 'पापविनिश्चये' कहती हैं, जो कि विडंबना है, क्योंकि सीता ही वहां सती और आर्य (श्रेष्ठ) आचरण वाली हैं। दुष्ट व्यक्ति अक्सर धर्म को अधर्म और सत्य को पाप के रूप में देखता है। यहाँ "मांसं भक्षयिष्यन्ति" कहकर वे सीता के अस्तित्व को ही समाप्त करने की धमकी दे रही हैं। यह सीता के जीवन का सबसे भयावह क्षण है जहाँ मृत्यु साक्षात सामने खड़ी प्रतीत होती है, जिससे त्रिजटा के हस्तक्षेप की आवश्यकता और भी प्रबल हो जाती है।
