एकस्तत्र मया दृष्टः श्वेतच्छत्रो विभीषणः ।

ekastatra mayā dṛṣṭaḥ śvetachhatro vibhīṣaṇaḥ ॥5-27-31॥
Translation
"There, I saw only Vibhishana alone, holding a white royal umbrella."

"वहाँ मैंने केवल एक विभीषण को श्वेत छत्र धारण किए हुए देखा।"
English Commentary
A striking contrast is introduced with the word ekaḥ (one/alone). Amidst the carnage and ominous signs surrounding his family, Vibhishana stands apart. The śvetachhatra (white parasol) is the ancient Indian insignia of sovereignty. This clearly forecasts Vibhishana's coronation as the King of Lanka. It validates his choice to side with Dharma (Rama), showing that righteousness preserves life and bestows status even amidst universal destruction.

यहाँ 'एकः' (अकेला) शब्द अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। पूरे राक्षस कुल में केवल विभीषण ही अलग दिखाई दिए। 'श्वेतच्छत्र' (सफेद छाता) राजपद और संप्रभुता का प्रतीक है। यह भविष्यवाणी करता है कि रावण के बाद लंका का राजा विभीषण बनेगा। विभीषण का धर्म के पक्ष में होना ही उसकी रक्षा का कारण है। जहाँ अन्य सभी लाल/काले रंगों और दक्षिण दिशा से जुड़े हैं, विभीषण का संबंध श्वेत रंग और स्थिरता से है। यह सिद्ध करता है कि 'धर्मो रक्षति रक्षितः'।
