Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
पीत्वा तैलं प्रनृत्ताश्च प्रहसन्त्यो महास्वनाः ।
लङ्कायां भस्मरूक्षायां प्रविष्टा राक्षसस्त्रियः ।
।
॥५-२७-३७॥
Pītvā tailaṃ pranṛttāśca prahasantyo mahāsvanāḥ । Laṅkāyāṃ bhasmarūkṣāyāṃ praviṣṭā rākṣasastriyaḥ । । ॥5-27-37॥
Translation
I saw other demoness women, having drunk oil, laughing loudly and dancing, entering the city of Lanka which was dry and covered in heaps of ash.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैंने देखा कि अन्य राक्षसी स्त्रियाँ तेल पीकर, जोर-जोर से हंसती हुई और नाचती हुई, भस्म (राख) से रूखी और धूल-धूसरित लंका में प्रवेश कर रही हैं।
English Commentary
In this verse, Trijata describes highly inauspicious omens regarding the fate of Lanka. In traditional symbolism, drinking oil is associated with death or severe misfortune, and a city covered in ash ('Bhasmarukshayam') clearly foreshadows the burning of Lanka by Hanuman. The demonesses laughing and dancing does not indicate joy, but rather a chaotic, hysterical madness that precedes total destruction. Trijata envisions the once-golden city turned into a dry, desolate ruin, indicating that the very foundation of the Rakshasa kingdom is about to crumble into dust.

त्रिजटा का यह स्वप्न लंका के विनाश का अत्यंत अशुभ संकेत है। भारतीय संस्कृति और शकुन शास्त्र में तेल का पान करना और भस्म (राख) से भरी नगरी का दर्शन करना घोर अमंगलकारी माना जाता है। तेल पीना मृत्यु और रुग्णता का प्रतीक है, जबकि हंसना और नाचना यहाँ उत्सव नहीं, बल्कि विनाश का उन्माद (hysteria) दर्शाता है। 'भस्मरूक्षायां' शब्द यह स्पष्ट करता है कि लंका का वैभव जलकर खाक होने वाला है; हनुमान जी द्वारा लंका दहन की घटना का यह पूर्व-संकेत (premonition) है। यह श्लोक बताता है कि लंका की समृद्धि अब शमशान की राख में बदलने वाली है।
