आत्मानं खादतानार्या न सीतां भक्षयिष्यथ ।
जनकस्य सुतामिष्टां स्नुषां दशरथस्य च ।

ātmanāṃ khādatānāryā na sītāṃ bhakṣayiṣyatha |
janakasya sutāmiṣṭāṃ snuṣāṃ daśarathasyaca ॥5-27-5॥
Translation
"O wicked ones! Eat your own selves, but you shall not devour Sita, the beloved daughter of Janaka and the daughter-in-law of Dasharatha."

"हे दुष्टों! अपने आप को खा जाओ, परन्तु सीता को मत खाओ। यह राजा जनक की प्रिय पुत्री और राजा दशरथ की पुत्रवधू है।"
English Commentary
Trijata issues a stern command. By telling them to "eat themselves," she implies that harming Sita is an act of self-destruction for the Rakshasa race. She intentionally invokes Sita’s lineage—daughter of the sage-king Janaka and daughter-in-law of the mighty Dasharatha—to remind the Rakshasis of the cosmic weight and political consequence of the person they are tormenting. It elevates Sita from a helpless captive to a figure of immense dynastic importance whose violation brings catastrophic retribution.

त्रिजटा का यह कथन अत्यंत प्रभावशाली है। 'आत्मानं खादत' (स्वयं को खाओ) एक प्रकार का धिक्कार और शाप है। त्रिजटा यहाँ सीता का परिचय केवल राम की पत्नी के रूप में नहीं, अपितु दो महान कुल (जनक और दशरथ) से उनके संबंध के आधार पर देती है। यह सीता की राजसी गरिमा और सुरक्षा के अधिकार को रेखांकित करता है। त्रिजटा यह चेतावनी देती है कि सीता को हानि पहुँचाना स्वयं के विनाश को निमंत्रण देना है। यहाँ रक्षक के रूप में त्रिजटा का अधिकारपूर्ण स्वर स्पष्ट है।
