स्वप्नो ह्यद्य मया दृष्टो दारुणो रोमहर्षणः ।
राक्षसानामाभावाय भर्तुरस्या भवाय च ।

svapno hyadya mayā dṛṣṭo dāruṇo romaharṣaṇaḥ |
rākṣasānāmabhāvāya bharturasyā bhavāya ca ॥5-27-6॥
Translation
"For today I have seen a terrible and hair-raising dream, presaging the destruction of the Rakshasas and the victory/welfare of her husband."

"क्योंकि आज मैंने एक भयानक और रोंगटे खड़े कर देने वाला स्वप्न देखा है, जो राक्षसों के विनाश और इनके (सीता के) पति (श्री राम) की विजय (कल्याण) का सूचक है।"
English Commentary
This verse serves as a prophecy. Trijata validates her authority to command the others by citing a supernatural experience—a svapna (dream). The dream is described as romaharṣaṇaḥ (causing horripilation/goosebumps), indicating its numinous and terrifying power. The purpose of the dream is explicitly stated: the abhāva (non-existence/destruction) of the demons and the bhava (prosperity/victory) of Rama. This creates a pivot in the narrative mood from despair to anticipated triumph.

स्वप्न का उल्लेख भारतीय महाकाव्यों में भविष्यद्वाणी का एक प्रमुख माध्यम है। 'रोमहर्षणः' शब्द स्वप्न की तीव्रता और सत्यता को बताता है। त्रिजटा स्पष्ट करती है कि यह स्वप्न दोतरफा है—एक ओर अधर्म (राक्षसों) का 'अभाव' (नाश), और दूसरी ओर धर्म (राम) का 'भव' (उदय/विजय)। यह श्लोक सुंदरकांड का एक निर्णायक मोड़ है जहाँ सीता को पहली बार यह आश्वासन मिलता है कि दैवीय शक्तियां उनके पक्ष में सक्रिय हैं और रावण का अंत निकट है।
