एवमुक्तास्त्रिजटया राक्षस्यः क्रोधमूर्च्छिताः ।
सर्वा एवाब्रुवन् भीतास्त्रिजटां तामिदं वचः ।
कथयस्व त्वया दृष्टः स्वप्नो ऽयं कीदृशो निशि ।

evamuktāstrijatayā rākṣasyaḥ krodhamūrcchitāḥ |
sarvā evābruvan bhītāstrijaṭāṃ tāmidam vacaḥ |
kathayasva tvayā dṛṣṭaḥ svapno 'yaṃ kīdṛśo niśi ॥5-27-7॥
Translation
Addressed thus by Trijata, the ogresses, who were previously senseless with anger, were now all struck with fear and spoke these words to Trijata: "Tell us, of what nature was this dream seen by you in the night?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
त्रिजटा के ऐसा कहने पर, जो राक्षसियाँ (पहले) क्रोध से पागल थीं, वे सब अब भयभीत होकर त्रिजटा से यह वचन बोलीं—"कहो, रात में तुमने कैसा स्वप्न देखा है?"
English Commentary
The psychology of the mob changes instantly from aggression to superstition. The mention of a prophetic dream predicting their doom punctures their arrogance. The phrase krodhamūrcchitāḥ (from verse 1) is contextually replaced by bhītāḥ (fearful) here. Their demand to hear the details reveals their underlying insecurity. It also sets the stage for the poet (Valmiki) to describe the vivid imagery of the dream through Trijata's voice.

यहाँ राक्षसियों की मनोदशा में त्वरित परिवर्तन दर्शनीय है। जो अभी क्रोध में थीं, वे अब 'भीताः' (डरी हुई) हैं। यह दर्शाता है कि दुष्ट प्रकृति के लोग भीतर से कितने कायर और अंधविश्वासी होते हैं। वे अपशकुन या अपनी मृत्यु की बात सुनकर तुरंत सिहर उठते हैं। उनका सामूहिक रूप से स्वप्न सुनने का आग्रह करना यह सिद्ध करता है कि वे भी अनजाने में राम के प्रभाव और अपने विनाश की आशंका से ग्रस्त हैं।
