तस्यास्तु रामं प्रविचिन्तयन्त्या रामानुजं स्वं च कुलं शुभाङ्ग्याः ।
शोकानिमित्तानि तथा बहूनि धैर्यार्जितानि प्रवराणि लोके ।
प्रादुर्निमित्तानि तदा बभूवुः पुरापि सिद्धान्युपलक्षितानि ।

Tasyāstu rāmaṃ pravicintayantyā rāmānujaṃ svaṃ ca kulaṃ śubhāṅgyāḥ |
śokānimittāni tathā bahūni dhairyārjitāni pravarāṇi loke |
prādurnimittāni tadā babhūvuḥ purāpi siddhānyupalakṣitāni ॥5-28-20॥
Translation
While that beautiful-limbed lady was thinking of Rama, Lakshmana, and her own lineage, many auspicious omens—renowned in the world for dispelling grief and restoring courage, and which had been observed before during successful times—suddenly appeared.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब वह सुंदरी (सीता) राम, लक्ष्मण और अपने कुल का चिंतन कर रही थीं, उसी समय संसार में प्रसिद्ध, धैर्य प्रदान करने वाले और शोक को दूर करने वाले, बहुत से शुभ शकुन (निमित्त) प्रकट हुए, जो पहले भी (सिद्धि के समय) देखे गए थे।
English Commentary
Just as the tragedy seems inevitable, the narrative pivots. While Sita's mind is occupied with farewell thoughts of her family, auspicious omens (nimittāni) manifest to intervene. These signs are described as dhairyārjitāni (restoring courage/patience) and are noted to be the same reliable signs seen before successful events in the past. It signifies that the universe is stepping in to prevent the catastrophe of Sita's suicide.
हिंदी टीका
ठीक उसी क्षण जब सीता मृत्यु का आलिंगन करने वाली थीं, नियति ने हस्तक्षेप किया। 'शोकानिमित्तानि' (शोक को नष्ट करने वाले) शकुन प्रकट हुए। वाल्मीकि जी यहाँ नाटकीयता (drama) लाते हैं—अत्यंत निराशा के क्षण में आशा की किरण। ये शकुन वैसे ही थे जैसे पहले कभी शुभ कार्यों की सिद्धि के समय देखे गए थे। यह हनुमान जी के प्रकट होने की पूर्वपीठिका है, जो सीता को मरने से रोकने वाला दैवीय संकेत है।
