हा राम हा लक्ष्मण हा सुमित्रे हा राममातः सह मे जनन्या ।
एषा विपद्याम्यहमल्पभाग्या माहार्णवे नौरिव मूढवाता ।

Hā Rāma hā Lakṣmaṇa hā Sumitre hā Rāmamātaḥ saha me jananyā |
eṣā vipadyāmyahamalpabhāgyā māhārṇave nauriva mūḍhavātā ॥5-28-8॥
Translation
Oh Rama! Oh Lakshmana! Oh Sumitra! Oh Rama's mother (Kausalya)! And oh my own mother! I, the unfortunate one, am perishing like a ship caught in a great ocean, buffeted by strong winds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हा राम! हा लक्ष्मण! हा सुमित्रा माता! हा राम की माता (कौशल्या)! और हा मेरी जननी! मैं मंदभागिनी (सीता) प्रचंड वायु के कारण महासागर में डगमगाती हुई नौका के समान नष्ट हो रही हूँ।
English Commentary
In a moment of supreme despair, Sita cries out to her entire family network, invoking not just her husband and brother-in-law, but the mothers who raised them. This widens the scope of the tragedy from a personal loss to a familial catastrophe. The metaphor of a ship in a storm (māhārṇave nauriva) represents her loss of control and direction. Buffeted by the "winds" of fate and Ravana's tyranny, she feels she is sinking. It is a heartbreaking cry of an "unfortunate" soul (alpabhāgyā) saying goodbye to her loved ones.

जब मृत्यु निकट दिखती है, तो व्यक्ति अपने प्रियजनों को याद करता है। सीता जी यहाँ केवल राम और लक्ष्मण को नहीं, बल्कि अपनी सासु माताओं और अपनी माँ को भी याद कर रही हैं। यह उनके पारिवारिक संस्कारों और प्रेम को दर्शाता है। 'मूढवाता' (प्रतिकूल/प्रचंड वायु) और 'नौका' का रूपक यह बताता है कि वे स्वयं को परिस्थितियों के तूफ़ान में फंसा हुआ मान रही हैं जहाँ उनका कोई नियंत्रण नहीं है (नाविक विहीन नाव)। यह पुकार उनकी अंतिम विदाई जैसी प्रतीत होती है।
