ताम् समीक्ष्य पुरीम् लन्काम् राक्षस अधिपतेः शुभाम् ।
अनुत्तमाम् ऋद्धि युताम् चिन्तयाम् आस वीर्यवान् ॥५-३-१३॥
tām samīkṣya purīm lankām rākṣasa adhipateḥ śubhām |
anuttamām ṛddhi yutām cintayām āsa vīryavān ॥5-3-13॥
Translation
Having closely observed that beautiful, unsurpassed, and prosperous city of the King of Rakshasas, the valiant Hanuman began to reflect.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसराज रावण की उस सुंदर, सर्वश्रेष्ठ और समृद्धि (ऋद्धि) से युक्त पुरी लंका को अच्छी तरह देखकर, वीर्यवान हनुमान विचार करने लगे।
English Commentary
This verse marks the shift from observation to contemplation. The descriptors 'shubham' (beautiful/auspicious) and 'anuttamam' (unsurpassed) acknowledge the objective greatness of the city. However, the action is 'chintayam asa' (he started thinking). Hanuman is calculating the logistics of the coming war. He realizes that this is not just a rescue mission but an invasion of a highly fortified and well-resourced superpower. The term 'viryavan' (valiant/potent) suggests that his mental strength matches his physical prowess.

अब हनुमान जी का ध्यान सौंदर्य-दर्शन से हटकर रणनीतिक चिंतन की ओर मुड़ता है। 'चिन्तयाम् आस' (चिंतन करने लगे) एक महत्वपूर्ण मोड़ है। एक सच्चा दूत केवल देखता नहीं, विश्लेषण करता है। 'ऋद्धि युताम्' (समृद्धि से युक्त) देखकर वे शत्रु के संसाधनों का आकलन कर रहे हैं। 'वीर्यवान' शब्द का प्रयोग यहाँ इसलिए किया गया है क्योंकि शत्रु के भारी-भरकम वैभव को देखकर भी जिसका मनोबल न टूटे और जो शांत चित्त से विचार कर सके, वही सच्चा वीर है। वे अब भावनात्मक प्रतिक्रिया से बौद्धिक विश्लेषण की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं।
