समीक्ष्य तु महा बाहः राघवस्य पराक्रमम् ।
लक्ष्मणस्य च विक्रान्तम् अभवत् प्रीतिमान् कपिः ॥५-३-१७॥
samīkṣya tu mahā bāhaḥ rāghavasya parākramam |
lakṣmaṇasya ca vikrāntam abhavat prītimān kapiḥ ॥5-3-17॥
Translation
Reflecting upon the prowess of Raghava (Rama) and the valor of Lakshmana, the great-armed monkey became filled with delight.

फिर महाबाहु वानर (हनुमान) राघव (राम) के पराक्रम और लक्ष्मण के विक्रम का विचार करके अत्यंत प्रसन्न (प्रीतिमान) हुए।
English Commentary
This is the definitive morale booster. After analyzing the enemy's strength and his own side's limited elite capacity, Hanuman finds his ultimate reassurance in the prowess of Rama and Lakshmana. He realizes that while the Vanaras are powerful, the actual destruction of Ravana is destiny-bound to Rama. The shift from strategic analysis to spiritual confidence ('pritiman' - delighted/loving) shows that for Hanuman, Rama's victory is a foregone conclusion regardless of Lanka's fortifications.

यह श्लोक हनुमान जी की भक्ति और विश्वास का आधार है। यद्यपि उन्होंने वानर वीरों की गणना की, परन्तु उनका असली भरोसा भगवान राम और लक्ष्मण के पौरुष पर है। रावण की स्वर्ण नगरी और राक्षसी माया को देखकर यदि मन में कोई शंका उठी भी हो, तो राम के 'पराक्रम' का स्मरण करते ही वह दूर हो गई। 'महाबाहु' विशेषण हनुमान के लिए प्रयुक्त है, जो दर्शाता है कि वे स्वयं बलवान हैं, फिर भी उनकी प्रसन्नता का स्रोत अपने स्वामी की शक्ति है। यह शरणागति और नेतृत्व में अटूट विश्वास का परिचायक है।
