हनुमद्वचनम् श्रुत्वा लङ्का सा कामरूपिणी ।
उवाच वचनम् क्रुद्धा परुषं पवनात्मजम् ॥५-३-२७॥
hanumadvacanam śrutvā laṅkā sā kāmarūpiṇī |
uvāca vacanam kruddhā paruṣaṃ pavanātmajam ॥5-3-27॥
Translation
Hearing Hanuman's words, that Lanka, capable of changing her form at will, became angry and spoke harsh words to the son of the Wind.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हनुमान के (ऐसे निडर) वचन सुनकर, इच्छानुसार रूप धारण करने वाली वह लंका क्रोधित हो गई और पवनपुत्र से कठोर वचन बोली।
English Commentary
The tension escalates. Lankini is provoked by Hanuman's lack of fear. Being 'Kamarupini' (shapeshifter), she represents the deceptive nature of the material world which reacts violently when challenged by spiritual inquiry. Her anger ('kruddha') is the instinctive reaction of authority when questioned. She responds with 'parusham' (harsh) words, setting the stage for the physical altercation.

हनुमान जी का निडर होकर प्रतिप्रश्न करना लंका देवी के अहंकार को चोट पहुँचाता है। 'कामरूपिणी' (इच्छानुसार रूप बदलने वाली) विशेषण यह याद दिलाता है कि वह मायावी है। उसका क्रोधित होना स्वाभाविक है क्योंकि राक्षसी प्रकृति में विरोध सहन करने की क्षमता नहीं होती। 'परुषं' (कठोर) वचन बोलना उसकी तामसिक प्रवृत्ति को दर्शाता है। संघर्ष अब अनिवार्य हो गया है।
