लङ्काया वचनम् श्रुत्वा हनुमान् मारुतात्मजः ।
यत्नवान्स हरिश्रेष्ठः स्थितश्शैल इवापरः ॥५-३-३१॥
laṅkāyā vacanam śrutvā hanumān mārutātmajaḥ |
yatnavānsa hariśreṣṭhaḥ sthitaśśaila ivāparaḥ ॥5-3-31॥
Translation
Hearing the words of Lanka, Hanuman, the son of the Wind and best of monkeys, became alert and stood firm like another mountain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
लंका के वचन सुनकर, पवनपुत्र और वानरों में श्रेष्ठ हनुमान जी 'यत्नवान' (सचेत/तैयार) हो गए और किसी दूसरे पर्वत की भांति (अचल) खड़े रहे।
English Commentary
Hanuman's reaction is of stoic strength. He is compared to a 'second mountain' ('shaila ivaparah'), suggesting he is as immovable and imposing as the Trikuta mountain on which Lanka stands. He becomes 'yatnavan' (diligent/effortful/ready), indicating a shift into combat stance. He absorbs the shock of her revelation without flinching, embodying the quality of 'Dhairya' (fortitude).

लंका का भयानक रूप और बातें सुनकर हनुमान जी डरे नहीं। 'स्थितः शैल इवापरः' (दूसरे पर्वत की भांति खड़े रहे) उपमा उनकी मानसिक और शारीरिक दृढ़ता को दर्शाती है। जैसे आंधी पर्वत को नहीं हिला सकती, वैसे ही लंकिनी की धमकियां उन्हें नहीं डिगा सकीं। 'यत्नवान' का अर्थ है उन्होंने युद्ध के लिए अपनी मांसपेशियों और मन को कस लिया। वे भागने वाले नहीं, डटकर सामना करने वाले योद्धा हैं।
