पपात सहसा भूमौ विकृताननदर्शना ।
ततस्तु हनुमान् प्राज्ञस्ताम् दृष्ट्वा विनिपातिताम् ॥ ॥५-३-४२॥

हिंदी अनुवाद
वह विकृत मुख वाली (लंकिनी) अचानक पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ी। उसे गिरा हुआ देखकर प्राज्ञ (बुद्धिमान) हनुमान जी ने... (अगले श्लोक से जारी)।
English Commentary
Lankini's fall represents the symbolic crumbling of Lanka's defenses. The description of her falling sahasā (suddenly) indicates the shock of the defeat. Hanuman is described here as prājña (wise). His wisdom lies in recognizing that the battle is won the moment she falls; he does not continue the assault unnecessarily. Seeing her vinipātitām (fallen down), he pauses, displaying the discipline required of a true hero who conquers to subdue, not to slaughter.
हिंदी टीका
लंकिनी का धराशायी होना लंका के पतन का प्रथम संकेत (shagun) है। 'विकृताननदर्शना' (डरावने मुख वाली) का गिरना बुराई के दमन का प्रतीक है। यहाँ हनुमान जी के लिए 'प्राज्ञ' (बुद्धिमान) विशेषण आया है। गिरने के बाद हनुमान जी ने उस पर दूसरा प्रहार नहीं किया, बल्कि स्थिति का आकलन किया। बुद्धिमान योद्धा गिरे हुए शत्रु पर वार नहीं करता। यह हनुमान जी की युद्ध-नीति और धर्मपरायणता को पुनः रेखांकित करता है।
