Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मम रूपं च सम्प्रेक्ष्य वने विचरतो महत् ।
राक्षस्यो भयवित्रस्ता भवेयुर्विकृताननाः ।
।
॥५-३०-२५॥
Mama rūpaṃ ca samprekṣya vane vicarato mahat । Rākṣasyo bhayavitrastā bhaveyurvikṛtānanāḥ । । ॥5-30-25॥
Translation
"And beholding my huge form as I move about in the forest, those deformed-faced demonesses would be struck with terror."
हिंदी अनुवाद
वन में विचरते हुए मेरे विशाल रूप को देखकर वे विकृत मुख वाली राक्षसियां भय से कांप उठेंगी।
English Commentary
This verse implies that if attacked, Hanuman would be forced to assume his combat form (mahat rūpam). While this would terrify the guards, it defeats the purpose of the current mission phase. His giant form is a weapon of war, not a tool for a quiet diplomatic introduction to a frightened princess. Escalation to his "Great Form" is inevitable eventually, but disastrous right now.

लड़ाई होने पर हनुमान जी को अपना सूक्ष्म रूप त्यागकर 'महत् रूप' (विशाल शरीर) धारण करना पड़ेगा। इस रूप को देखकर राक्षसियां डर जाएंगी। यह शक्ति प्रदर्शन (Show of strength) अभी समय से पहले होगा। हनुमान जी का उद्देश्य सीता को अभय देना है, न कि अशोक वाटिका में आतंक मचाना (जो वे बाद में करेंगे, पर अभी नहीं)। अभी वे केवल एक संवादक (Communicator) की भूमिका में रहना चाहते हैं।
