यद्यप्यहमिमां देवीं शोकोपहतचेतनाम् ।
अनाश्वास्य गमिष्यामि दोषवद् गमनं भवेत् ।
।
॥५-३०-८॥
Yadyapyahamimāṃ devīṃ śokopahatacetanām । Anāśvāsya gamiṣyāmi doṣavad gamanaṃ bhavet । । ॥5-30-8॥
Translation
If I were to depart without consoling this divine lady whose mind is overwhelmed with grief, my departure would be flawed and blameworthy.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि मैं शोक से व्याकुल चित्त वाली इन देवी को बिना आश्वासन दिए यहाँ से चला जाता हूँ, तो मेरा जाना दोषपूर्ण (अनुचित) होगा।
English Commentary
Hanuman evaluates the quality of his mission. While he has successfully located Sita, he realizes that leaving her in her current state—śokopahatacetanām (mind struck down by grief)—would be a failure of duty (doṣavad). Mere intelligence gathering is insufficient; preserving the life of the person to be rescued is paramount. This verse highlights Hanuman's emotional intelligence; he understands that stabilizing the victim's mental state is the first step of a rescue operation.

हनुमान जी कर्तव्य की सूक्ष्मता को समझते हैं। केवल सीता का पता लगा लेना और राम को जाकर बता देना 'तकनीकी' रूप से कार्य-सिद्धि हो सकती है, परन्तु 'मानवीय' दृष्टि से यह दोषपूर्ण (दोषवद्) है। सीता जी की मानसिक स्थिति (शोकोपहतचेतनाम्) ऐसी है कि वे किसी भी क्षण प्राण त्याग सकती हैं। इसलिए, उन्हें जीवनदान दिए बिना लौटना हनुमान जी को एक अपूर्ण और असफल प्रयास प्रतीत होता है। यह एक श्रेष्ठ दूत की निशानी है जो आदेश के शब्दों से आगे बढ़कर उसके मर्म को समझता है।
