व्यञ्जनानि च ते यानि लक्षणानि च लक्षये ।
महिषी भूमिपालस्य राजकन्या ऽसि मे मता ।

Vyañjanāni ca te yāni lakṣaṇāni ca lakṣaye । Mahiṣī bhūmipālasya rājakanyā 'si me matā । 。 ॥5-33-12॥
Translation
Observing the marks on your body and the auspicious signs, I am of the opinion that you are the queen of a king or a princess.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम्हारे शरीरावयव और जो शुभ लक्षण मैं देख रहा हूँ, उनसे मेरा मत है कि तुम किसी राजा की पटरानी (महिषी) अथवा राजकन्या हो।
English Commentary
Validating his deduction, Hanuman refers to 'Vyanjanani' (bodily signs) and 'Lakshanani' (auspicious marks). In ancient Indian physiognomy, royalty is believed to possess specific physical traits. Hanuman recognizes these indelible marks of sovereignty on her person despite her rags. By identifying her as a 'Mahishi' (Consort of a King) or 'Rajakanya' (Princess), he sets the stage to ask the final question: 'Are you Sita?'
हिंदी टीका
हनुमान जी अब अपनी बात को अंतिम रूप दे रहे हैं। सामुद्रिक शास्त्र के अनुसार राजकुल की स्त्रियों के शरीर पर कुछ विशेष लक्षण (जैसे पद्म रेखाएं, आदि) होते हैं। सीता की दशा खराब होने के बावजूद वे लक्षण मिटे नहीं हैं। 'महिषी' (पटरानी) और 'राजकन्या'—ये दोनों ही बातें सीता पर लागू होती हैं (जनक की कन्या और राम की पत्नी)। हनुमान जी ने पहचान लगभग पक्की कर ली है, अब बस सीता की स्वीकृति शेष है।
