पृथिव्यां राजसिहानां मुख्यस्य विदितात्मनः ।
स्नुषा दशरथस्याहं शत्रुसैन्यप्रतापिनः ।
।
॥५-३३-१६॥
Pṛthivyāṃ rājasihānāṃ mukhyasya viditātmanaḥ |
Snuṣā daśarathasyāhaṃ śatrusainyapratāpinaḥ ॥5-33-16॥
Translation
I am the daughter-in-law of Dasharatha, the foremost among the lion-like kings on earth, the knower of the Self, and the tormentor of enemy armies.

पृथ्वी पर राजसिंहों में मुख्य, आत्मज्ञानी और शत्रु सेना को संताप देने वाले महाराज दशरथ की मैं पुत्रवधू हूँ।
English Commentary
Adhering to traditional etiquette (maryada), Sita begins her introduction not with her own name, but by identifying herself through her father-in-law. She describes King Dasharatha with powerful epithets like rājasimha (lion among kings) and viditātmanaḥ (knower of the Self). This shows that despite her abduction and suffering, her pride in the Ikshvaku lineage remains unshaken. She defines herself first as the daughter-in-law (snuṣā) of a mighty emperor, asserting her noble status rather than her current victimhood. It establishes the gravity of her background to the listener.

भारतीय संस्कृति की मर्यादा के अनुरूप, सीता जी अपना परिचय स्वयं से नहीं, अपितु अपने श्वसुर कुल से आरम्भ करती हैं। वे महाराज दशरथ के लिए 'राजसिंह' (राजाओं में शेर) और 'विदितात्मनः' (आत्मज्ञानी) जैसे विशेषणों का प्रयोग करती हैं। यह दर्शाता है कि वनवास और रावण द्वारा हरण किए जाने के बाद भी, उन्हें अपने रघुकुल के गौरव पर कितना अभिमान है। वे अपनी पहचान एक महान साम्राज्य की पुत्रवधू के रूप में कराती हैं, न कि एक असहाय बंदी के रूप में। यह उनकी कुलीनता और उच्च संस्कारों का प्रमाण है।
