दुहिता जनकस्याहं वैदेहस्य महात्मनः ।
सीता च नाम नाम्ना ऽहं भार्या रामस्य धीमतः ।

Duhitā janakasyāhaṃ vaidehasya mahātmanaḥ |
Sītā ca nāma nāmnā 'haṃ bhāryā rāmasya dhīmataḥ ॥5-33-17॥
Translation
I am the daughter of the high-souled Janaka, the King of Videha. My name is Sita, and I am the wife of the wise Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मैं विदेहराज महात्मा जनक की पुत्री हूँ। मेरा नाम सीता है और मैं बुद्धिमान श्रीराम की पत्नी हूँ।
English Commentary
After honoring her in-laws, Sita introduces her paternal lineage and herself. She refers to King Janaka as Mahatma (high-souled), acknowledging his saintly reputation. Finally, she states her name and identifies herself as the wife of the 'wise' (dhīmataḥ) Rama. It is significant that she chooses to highlight Rama's wisdom over his physical strength here. This subtle choice might reflect her understanding that defeating a deceptive enemy like Ravana requires strategic wisdom as much as martial power. With this, she provides a complete confirmation of her identity to Hanuman.

पूर्व श्लोक में श्वसुर का परिचय देने के बाद, अब सीता जी अपने पिता और पति का परिचय देती हैं। वे राजा जनक को 'महात्मा' कहती हैं, जो उनकी आध्यात्मिक उच्चता को दर्शाता है। अंत में वे कहती हैं, 'मैं राम की पत्नी हूँ', और राम के लिए 'धीमतः' (बुद्धिमान/धैर्यवान) विशेषण का प्रयोग करती हैं। यह रोचक है कि वे राम के शौर्य की बजाय उनकी बुद्धि और विवेक को याद कर रही हैं, संभवतः इसलिए क्योंकि वे जानती हैं कि रावण जैसे कपटी शत्रु को हराने के लिए केवल बल नहीं, बल्कि बुद्धि की भी आवश्यकता होगी। यहाँ परिचय पूर्ण होता है।
