Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स पितुर्वचनं श्रीमानभिषेकात् परं प्रियम् ।
मनसा पूर्वमासाद्य वाचा प्रतिगृहीतवान् ।
।
॥५-३३-२५॥
Sa piturvacanaṃ śrīmānabhiṣekāt paraṃ priyam । Manasā pūrvamāsādya vācā pratigṛhītavān । । ॥5-33-25॥
Translation
That glorious Rama accepted his father’s command—which he held dearer than his own coronation—first with his mind, and then acknowledged it with his speech.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन श्रीमान् (राम) ने राज्याभिषेक से भी बढ़कर प्रिय अपने पिता के वचन को पहले मन से स्वीकार किया और फिर वाणी से उसे अंगीकार किया।
English Commentary
This verse highlights the supreme integrity and filial devotion (Pitru-bhakti) of Lord Rama. Sita emphasizes that Rama did not view the order of exile as a punishment, but accepted it as something "dearer than the coronation" because it allowed him to fulfill his father's truth. The sequencing here is profound: he accepted it first with his mind (internal resolve) and only then with his speech (external confirmation). This indicates that there was no hesitation or internal conflict; his acceptance was immediate, wholehearted, and rooted in a deep sense of duty, proving his title as Shriman (the glorious one).

यह श्लोक प्रभु श्री राम की "पितृ-भक्ति" और उनके चरित्र की दृढ़ता का एक उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। माता सीता हनुमान जी को बता रही हैं कि वनवास की आज्ञा मिलने पर राम को दुःख नहीं हुआ, बल्कि उन्होंने इसे राज्याभिषेक से भी अधिक 'प्रिय' माना। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि उन्होंने पिता की आज्ञा का पालन केवल दिखावे के लिए या वाणी से नहीं किया, बल्कि "मनसा पूर्वमासाद्य" — पहले अपने मन और अन्तरात्मा से उसे स्वीकार किया। यह पूर्ण समर्पण और मानसिक स्पष्टता को दर्शाता है, जहाँ कर्तव्य पालन में रंच मात्र भी द्वंद्व नहीं था।
