Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
त वयं भर्तुरादेशं बहुमान्य दृढव्रताः ।
प्रविष्टाः स्म पुरा ऽदृष्टं वन गम्भीरदर्शनम् ।
॥५-३३-३०॥
Te vayaṃ bharturādeśaṃ bahumānya dṛḍhavratāḥ । Praviṣṭāḥ sma purā 'dṛṣṭaṃ vanaṃ gambhīradarśanam । ॥5-33-30॥
Translation
Thus, honoring the command of the Lord (King Dasharatha) and holding firm to our vows, we entered the deep forest which had never been seen before.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हम तीनों, दृढ़ व्रत धारण कर और पिता (भरत के स्वामी/राजा दशरथ) की आज्ञा को शिरोधार्य कर, उस गहन और पहले कभी न देखे गए वन में प्रविष्ट हुए।
English Commentary
This verse marks the transition from civilization to the wild. Sita emphasizes their collective resolve with the word dridhavratah (firm in vows). They did not enter the forest as fugitives fleeing a tragedy, but as distinct upholders of Dharma honoring a command. The description of the forest as pura adrishtam (unseen before) and gambhira (deep/fearing) underscores the magnitude of their sacrifice—royals who had never known hardship walking willingly into the terrifying unknown strictly to uphold the truth of the King's word.

सीता जी यहाँ वनवास के आरंभिक चरण का स्मरण कर रही हैं। "दृढव्रताः" शब्द तीनों (राम, सीता, लक्ष्मण) के संकल्प को दिखाता है; वे विवशता में नहीं, बल्कि संकल्प के साथ वन गए। "पुरा अदृष्टं" (पहले कभी नहीं देखा गया) यह दर्शाता है कि वे सुकुमार राजघराने के लोग जिन्होंने कभी वन की कठोरता नहीं देखी थी, फिर भी वे "गम्भीरदर्शनम्" (भयानक दिखने वाले) वन में निर्भय होकर प्रविष्ट हुए। यहाँ 'भर्तु' शब्द का अर्थ पिता दशरथ या स्वामी राम के संदर्भ में लिया जा सकता है, जो आज्ञा पालन की निष्ठा को दर्शाता है।
