Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
चित्तं हरसि मे सौम्य नदीकूलं यथा रयः ।
।
॥५-३४-१९॥
Cittaṃ harasi me saumya nadīkūlaṃ yathā rayaḥ । । ॥5-34-19॥
Translation
O gentle one! You capture/steal my mind just as a river's current carries away the bank.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौम्य! जैसे नदी का वेग (किनारे को बहा ले जाता है), वैसे ही तुम मेरे चित्त को हर रहे हो (मेरे मन को अपनी ओर खींच रहे हो)।
English Commentary
This is a beautiful metaphor for the overwhelming power of devotion. Sita admits that despite her resistance, Hanuman is winning her over. The simile of the river current (rayah) eroding the bank (nadikulam) implies that her rigid wall of suspicion is collapsing against the flow of Hanuman’s sincerity. Addressing him as Saumya (gentle/auspicious one) indicates a significant thaw in her demeanor; she feels a magnetic pull of trust that she can no longer rationally deny.

यह श्लोक बहुत प्रतीकात्मक है। सीता जी स्वीकार करती हैं कि हनुमान की बातों और उनकी उपस्थिति का प्रभाव उन पर गहरा पड़ रहा है। "चित्तं हरसि" — मेरा मन मेरे वश में नहीं है, वह तुम्हारी ओर खिंचा जा रहा है। "नदीकूलं यथा रयः" — जैसे नदी का तेज बहाव किनारे की मिट्टी को काट ले जाता है, वैसे ही हनुमान की भक्तिमयी उपस्थिति सीता के संदेह (किनारे) को काट रही है। 'सौम्य' संबोधन बताता है कि अब उन्हें वानर में क्रूरता नहीं, सौम्यता दिख रही है।
