सत्यवादी मधुरवाग् देवो वाचस्पतिर्यथा ।
रूपवान् सुभगः श्रीमान् कन्दर्प इव मूर्तिमान् ।
।
॥५-३४-२९॥
Satyavadi madhuravag devo vachaspatiryatha |
Rupavan subhagah shriman kandarpa iva murtiman ॥5-34-29॥
Translation
He (Rama) is truthful and speaks as sweetly as Vachaspati (Brihaspati, the Lord of Speech). He is handsome, fortunate, and possesses royal majesty, looking like Kandarpa (the God of Love) incarnate.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे (श्रीराम) सत्य बोलने वाले हैं और देवगुरु बृहस्पति के समान मधुर भाषी हैं। वे रूपवान, सौभाग्यशाली और शोभायमान हैं, मानो साक्षात् कामदेव ही शरीर धारण करके आए हों।
English Commentary
Hanuman paints a vivid portrait of Rama to comfort Sita. By describing Rama as 'Satyavadi' (truthful) and eloquent like Brihaspati, he contrasts Rama’s noble character with Ravana’s deceitful aggression. The physical description—comparing Rama to the God of Love—is intended to evoke fond memories for Sita. Hanuman is essentially telling her that despite the separation, Rama’s majestic and charming nature remains unchanged. This helps shift her focus from her current misery to the hope of reuniting with her divine husband.
